　　A wolf was almost dead with hunger. A house-dog saw him, and asked, "Friend, your irregular life will soon ruin you.

　　狼說(shuō)：“如果我有個(gè)地方住，我沒(méi)有意見(jiàn)。”狗回答說(shuō)：“跟我到主人那里去，我們一起工作。”于是狼和狗一起回到了村子。

　　在路上，狼注意到狗的脖子上有一圈沒(méi)有毛，他很奇怪地問(wèn)為什么會(huì )那樣。

　　Just then a hunter came by with four dogs. The cat jumped nimbly up a tree, and sat down at its top, where the branches and foliage completely hid her.

　　"Untie your sack, Mr. Fox, untie your sack," the cat shouted to him, but the dogs had already seized him, and were holding him fast.

　　狐貍傲慢地將貓從頭到腳地打量了一番，半天拿不定主意是不是該和它說(shuō)話(huà)。最后它說(shuō)：“哦，你這個(gè)倒霉的長(cháng)著(zhù)鬍子、滿(mǎn)身花紋的傻瓜、饑腸轆轆地追趕老鼠的傢伙，你會(huì )啥?有甚么資格問(wèn)我過(guò)得怎么樣?你都學(xué)了點(diǎn)甚么本事?”

　　“我只有一種本領(lǐng)。”貓謙虛地說(shuō)。

　　“甚么本領(lǐng)?”狐貍問(wèn)。

　　“有人追我的時(shí)候，我會(huì )爬到樹(shù)上去藏起來(lái)保護自己。”

　　“就這本事?”狐貍不屑地說(shuō)，“我掌握了上百種本領(lǐng)，而且還有滿(mǎn)口袋計謀。我真覺(jué)得你可憐，跟著(zhù)我吧，我教你怎么從追捕中逃生。”

　　就在這時(shí)，獵人帶著(zhù)四條狗走近了。貓敏捷地竄到一棵樹(shù)上，在樹(shù)頂上蹲伏下來(lái)，茂密的樹(shù)葉把它遮擋得嚴嚴實(shí)實(shí)。
